My Lifeform manufacturing complaints: Please appreciate the humor and seriousness of this experience I had with Lifeform, the manufacturer of Relax the Back's office chairs. OK, so you walk into a relax the back store and see the comfy chairs and high price tags so you think, good stuff, huh? Well, hell no. The 2 cent material they put in the chair is the worst stuff you'll ever rest your butt on. You think it's good while sitting in the store, and then you get it home, the comfiness of the chair makes your butt sweat and in no time you're sitting on a sheet of paper, such that the seams in your underwear and pants pockets start to bruise your butt. It took me a little over a year to let Lifeform know of my solution to the problem they couldn't fix (buy a used Lifeform chair and get it re-upholstered with new foam), and below is the current running dialogue. They outright ignored my request for how much the discount was for a bare chair without foam on the seat. I love how my re-upholstered Relax the Back, Lifeform chair turned out. I am satisfied yet unsatisfied. I would not recommend investing a grand with these incompetents. Customer service is junk and in my case, it has "fallen short." The reader is forewarned.... My 1st reply: So you took the easy way and decided to let me be. I'll put this online then and hope others find it. Tyler Lifeform's 1st response: Dear Mr. Anderson, Thank you for taking the time to write to us in such detail about the troubles you had with your chair. Unfortunately, we cannot satisfy all of our customers all of the time. However, your detailed account and photographs will help us to better our product and customer service. I can assure you that we will review your situation very carefully and implement what we can from it. I am very sorry that you have had the trouble you did with our chairs. Certainly we pride ourselves with a superior product and customer service, sometimes there are times when that service falls short. Thank you again for taking the time to notify us of your situation. Best regards, Sonja Mortensen VP Customer Service LIFEFORM Furniture Manufacturing Inc. First email I sent: To whom it may concern: You should remember me, I was a tough customer in Beaverton, Oregon sometime last year. My deep seat was sent back to you guys once, and then replaced the second time. You claimed an extra 2 inches in foam when we spoke on the phone, but my upholsterer couldn't confirm it, as any extra inches would have left the original seat I had with 1 inch of foam, which is absolutely impossible. I just want you guys to know how crappy your foam and your word is, and that you were literally the biggest pain in my butt last year. The replaced cushion went flat again in about a week. I ended up buying some leather online and I went to an upholsterer who fixed my chair up the right way, replacing the foam with real stuff that did not crap out (see attached pics). I still have the old foam, in fact (also in attached pics). I'm so absolutely satisfied of the work he did. I will never advise life form chairs and some day I will probably put this online. Your material is shoddy and inferior, and even a second attempt failed. My advice to other is this: Buy a used life form chair and then get it re-upholstered. The big selling point, the foam, is nothing but a hack. BTW, what's the discount for a plastic deep seat, and cushioned but bare backing? Yes, this, perhaps, is what I can recommend to my friends as the top of the line new life form chair. For surely the plastic itself could not have become such a major pain in my butt as your cushion. Tyler PS. I do expect a reply, and excuse my frankness. But what can you expect from one who got ripped off on a crappy office chair cushion who had to spent an extra $400 to make it right in good leather, cushion and top upholstering skills?A couple of words were replaced with butt Links to images attached in email: Couple of pics of the worst stuff to put in a chair: |
